November Finale

Hello again Reader, So, the first block of Book two is out! Poor Jaques, he’s been through a lot hasn’t he? He really isn’t suited for all this action. I hope I don’t put him into more situations that he’s not made for… I say as I laugh maniacally at the pain in store for poor old Jaques. I kid. But for real, the tone of the Limbo Chronologies is something I tried to set at the very beginning, which I hope I made clear. It’s a strange world where parchment paper and digital brains, candlelight and energy weapons exist at the same time. Things are terrible, but people go about as though everything is fine. Body and techno horrors abound, and people are more machine than man. Grimdark, weird fiction, hard sci-fi and high fantasy have always been inspirations, but to stamp the Limbo Chronologies with the grimdark tag, or with any of the other aforementioned genres, is a stretch. It’s not depressing and oppressive enough, nor are there the hopeless elements that so oft mar the blea...

I Swear This Month Just Keeps On Going

Hello again Reader, November just can’t end fast enough. I feel like this month up till now has been squared in length, but thankfully a couple unexpected snowfalls have reminded me that December is right around the corner despite my warped perception of time. The glum darkness will give way to sparkly lights and morally acceptable materialism in no time, then dawns a new year. (After 31 days of mandatory Mariah Carey suffrage, of course). All I want for Christmas is to get back north and leave this twenty square meter apartment behind me. By the 19 th I shall have finished all my courses, God willing, and be free to move out from this small city by the sea. By no means has it been a bad place to live, but it’s just that all my friends, and of course my lovely girlfriend, are not here. The latter is visiting me now, so I apologize in advance for the short update today. Chapter 8 is up as promised, and I’ve read through the entirety of book two and I’m deliberating on posting it ...

Project Update: Book two is here!

Hello again Reader, I once again must apologize for falling short on my promises. The PDF is yet to be formatted, but the good news is that I’m giving you the first chapter of book two, no matter how little I like it. The first draft of book two is very, VERY, raw. There are a lot of contradictions and weird plot threads. The pacing is wonky, and it only really gets good near the end. I think the reason for this comes from the fact that I sat on book one for almost a year before doing anything with it. I’d kind of forgotten a lot about the story and the characters, (especially details on the world building), and while it helped reading through book one while writing book two, I feel as though I made too many mistakes. I’ll still release it as is, for it would take way too much time to give it the massive rewrite it needs. That is reserved for when the first draft of the entire novel is finished. I just have to cringe and let it out there and hope for the best. Book three on the...

Oh no, Still in November

Hello again Reader, Man, it feels like a month has gone by since November started, but we’re only done with the first week! Over here it’s just rain and fog and more rain and its dark when I wake up and dark when I go to sleep. Sunrise is at 8:00 and sunset is at 16:00. Days feel like they meld together to form a thick slushy stream. Have I mentioned already that I don’t like November? Chronologies wise, I’ve started writing book three! That means that I’ll start rewriting book two and start posting it in due time. Expect the first chapter to be out sometime next week. Man do I want to talk about it already, but I don’t want to get into spoilerinos. Though the first chapter of book two ain’t out yet, keen eyes might’ve spotted something extra hiding on the site behind a surreptitious link. I won’t say what it is, you’ll just have to find it yourself. I also must confess that I’ve not yet formatted book one into a reader friendly PDF. This last week, three new courses have begun and...

Oh no, November

Hello again Reader, October is over. Here in the cold north, leaves have all but fallen to the ground. The trees are bare, and the skies are gray. Rain is cold and constant, and the sun hardly has time to peek through the veil of clouds before it sets. The days grow shorter, the nights longer, as the year nears its end. A long wait for winter snows begins. November is by far the worst month of the year up here. It is a season unto itself. A dreary span between vibrant fall and silent winter, without the full  and rich characteristics of either, instead only the worst from both. Sometimes, further up north, it might snow, only to have it melt away within days. Sometimes there might still be an oak or two with rustic leaves, but the winds make sure that they don’t remain for long.  Beautiful view from my apartment.   But enough of that. You’re here for an- Update! You’ve probably noticed that I’ve added links to previous and next chapters within the chapter pages. I...
