Sicilian Flag & Trinacria: Meaning and History

Hello, dear Reader,

August is coming to an end and so is my rotation. Here at the Mediterranean it is humid AF and hot, and your boy is sweating like a cold bottle of coke on a summer day every time he steps outside and is blasted in the face with a wall of heat. If all goes well, by the time you read this, I’ll be on my way, or already at home. One more rotation for this year and then we’re very nearly at 2027!

Also, next week’s post will be the anniversary of this blog. When I started this I was on my final year of courses at maritime school, and the idea of consistently posting for one year seemed like a far-off, nebulous idea. But more on that next week.

For now, I want you all to know that 5-6 is progressing slowly and has slowed down further due to the inexorably creeping exhaustion that I’ve been prolonging for a couple weeks. Working every day for six weeks will do that.

Here is a sneak peek though:

But fret not, the murderer shall be revealed, and even Bee’s fate from chapter 1 shall come apparent in the Epilogue I’ve planned for part 1. (If you don’t recall, I stated that book five will be included in part 1).

Also, I am preemptively apologizing for another hiccup in TLC’s progress. A little under a week in of my six weeks off, I’ll be taking a weeklong road-trip with my partner over yonder in the mountainous north of Norway, so be prepared. By then 5-6 and possibly 5-7 WILL be finished.

I’ll be posting this on the 28th so it’ll go up on the 29th, during which I’ll be flying home and will lack the internet and privacy to write and post. At the moment I am sitting in my clean cabin with my things packed, waiting for anchor to drop and the boat to come alongside to let the rotation crew aboard, then, off to a Sicilian hotel for the night. (Hence the flag).

Thank you, dear Reader, for your patience and presence.

I’ll see you all next Saturday for this Blog’s anniversary!
