Final Ramblings Of September

Image
this might be a hint... Hello, dear Reader, We’re inching towards October and my inevitable return to sea around the 8 th and 10 th . But, fret not, 5-8 is well on the way, and we once again jump to characters that aren’t a part of Buddy’s party. But who are they? You’ll just have to wait and see. Though the Alpine arc is, in its own way, finished story-wise, as I said before it will be receiving a HEAVY rework come the second draft. Also, writing it felt like, as Stephen King puts it in his On Writing: “shoveling shit.” That’s not to say Book Five is shit, rather the entire process felt like I was forcibly pulling out the story through heaps of dung, then I was surprised when, reading it back, it wasn’t as bad as I felt it was during the writing process itself. 5-8 hasn’t suffered from that at all. Here’s a sneak peek:   Wherever Wolf is, it’s a truly strange and incomprehensible space, don’t you think? Also, not to get TOO into spoilerinos, but Five-One and Meridia ...

September Update (No Creative Titles Today)

Image
Hello, dear Reader, 5-7 is here! With the title: Arrest. Read about what happens to the Purist Alina, and just what Buddy and Hound will do next. The ascetic has been caught blue-handed, but was she the sole perpetrator? Find out in this latest chapter of The Limbo Chronologies. I’m not a 100% happy with this chapter, but after FIVE sessions of proofing and cutting adding cutting and adding again, I’ve found its best first draft form for you guys today. Book five is my very first experiment in a who-dun-it, style, and though I disdain tropes, I know that one can learn from them. Thus this particular book with regards to the progression of the mystery and its culmination, will most likely be heavily changed in the second draft! But the general story elements will not change. The outpost, murder, and culprit will remain the same, but the means of presentation will not. This arc in Buddy’s and the rests story is, like I’ve mentioned before, necessary setup for what is t...

A Very Condensed Log of My Wonderful Week In Norway

Image
Hello, dear Reader, One Norway trip later and here I am again in the comfort of home. The Chronologies steadily progress as we inch ever onwards toward a new year. The leaves have started to yellow, and the morning air is chilly with the promise of winter. Rain, rain and more rain, which, of course, I love. Hus øy Norway, contrarily, was not as rainy as we had expected. We managed to drive over through Kilpisjärvi (the same place I was adventuring earlier this year), all the way to Senja with little to no rain. The first night we stayed at Kilpisjärvi under the shadow of Saana, and the next morning we drove up to Norway, seeing the growing mountains ever in the distance, and through beautiful fall colors, straight through Finnsnes to Senja. There we went to see Husøy (image beside) and stayed the night in a quaint little bay by the sea at Mefjordbotn, where we swam. The next day we ventured to Fjordgård to hike up Hesten and see Segla, of which thou shalt see an image below: That...

Thank You!

Image
Hello, dear Reader, September first marked the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THIS BLOG!! Congratulations us! Crazy to think that one year has already come and gone. Sadly, though, I’ve not managed to conclude part one for this day. But that doesn’t mean it will NEVER be ready. I begin with a heartfelt thank you to each and all of you who have stuck around for this twelve months. I am eternally grateful in knowing that at least some of you enjoy what I've here put down, and know that I continue to write, knowing that there is at least one of you who keeps coming back for more. NOW!  As you most astute Readers can tell, 5-6 is in the sidebar. Hurrah! In it the party split up and look for clues. For the keen reader, I’ve spread hints of who the murderer is here and there, and one of the chapters posted so far elucidates their motives. For those disappointed in the party NOT having found the Verdancy Pathogen by the end of part 1, I say to you: Let it ride! This story is a...
