Final Ramblings Of September

Hello, dear Reader,

We’re inching towards October and my inevitable return to sea around the 8th and 10th. But, fret not, 5-8 is well on the way, and we once again jump to characters that aren’t a part of Buddy’s party.

But who are they? You’ll just have to wait and see.

Though the Alpine arc is, in its own way, finished story-wise, as I said before it will be receiving a HEAVY rework come the second draft. Also, writing it felt like, as Stephen King puts it in his On Writing: “shoveling shit.”

That’s not to say Book Five is shit, rather the entire process felt like I was forcibly pulling out the story through heaps of dung, then I was surprised when, reading it back, it wasn’t as bad as I felt it was during the writing process itself.

5-8 hasn’t suffered from that at all. Here’s a sneak peek:

Also, not to get TOO into spoilerinos, but Five-One and Meridia make an appearance in this chapter. But I ain’t revealing too much as to what they come across, and where they are for that matter. But it ain’t hard to guess.

After this chapter and possible supplementary materials are out, Part 1. will be conclusively over.

Story-wise, as you’ve noticed, and as I’ve explained in a previous post, it’s more akin to a collection of novellas (minor arcs), that are collected into one volume. The overarching story plays out, yes, but you’re yet not privy to all actors, locations, or moving pieces. And that’s the point.

Once I get an updated 1st draft PDF for you guys I will ONCE AGAIN be pivoting my attentions toward my main project. For I’ve been returned the copy I gave out for a beta-reader, and I’ve been terrified of opening it and seeing the notes.

I know it’s an inevitability if I want the story to get out there the traditional style, but man is it scary nonetheless.

Anyway, nothing new on this front. Just been re-reading Virgil’s Aeneid and watching Dark (the series), with my lady.

Christmas Is Coming, And I'm Leaving (Home)

Just yesterday was the first of the month, and now you’re telling me that we’re already two weeks in, chestnuts roasting on an open fire and all. Impossible. Compared to the November marathon this has been a speedrun. In just one more week I’ll be moving back up north! I can’t quite process the fact that in just seven days I’ll be sitting in the car with my dad with a trailer filled with my things, driving up eight hours back to my hometown. I’ve lived here for three and a half years, give or take, and though I’ve been eagerly waiting for the move, it just doesn’t feel real now that it’s so close. I only have one more week here in this 20 square meter cell with the loft I sleep in. One more week of solitude. One more week of the life I built here, then, never again. Consistency

Hello, reader. September is coming to an end and soon the spooky month, (October), begins. I must admit that from all the twelve months in the year, the tenth is one of my favorites. The air is perfectly crisp and cool, the wind in the trees is loud and biting, and the leaves begin their fiery withering before gently tumbling to the ground. That, and it’s dark, and people tend to go out less late in the evening, leaving the parks and city streets bare, wet, and cold. Leaving it all to me. Also, if you’ve noticed, Chapter three is out! It might take some time before chapter four is ready, seeing as I have simulation training starting next week, (Long days from eight to four), so I won’t have much time between thesis work and all the things I need to do (gym etc.).
